Have anyone run Intel QAT 8950 or other version on the Mac Pro 6.1?
I had an old thunderbolt 2 PCI enclosure (Akitio) lying around (used with Intel i350-t2 and a 2011 Mac Mini server for pfSense firewall.)
So, I added the Intel QAT 8950 card and connect to the Mac Pro. I can see in system profile that the thunderbolt device is engaged with the system, but I cannot tell whether the PCI device is running.
pci11c1,5901:
Type: IEEE 1394 Open HCI
Driver Installed: Yes
Tunnel Compatible: Yes
Pause Compatible: Yes
MSI: Yes
Bus: PCI
Slot: Thunderbolt@237,0,0
Vendor ID: 0x11c1
Device ID: 0x5901
Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x11c1
Subsystem ID: 0x5900
Revision ID: 0x0008
Link Width: x1
Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s
Since the Mac Pro is Intel Xeon, I believe the drivers could be by default already installed.
Honestly, I am hoping to use the QAT to spice up the Mac Pro. Wonder whether the FreeBSD drivers would work in case no drivers are on the Mac Pro
