Maybe I’m being dim, but how do you multitask with apps that are not currently in the dock?

I know I can pull the dock up and drag one of the apps (persistent or recent) to the side of the screen, and multitask, but what if the app I want isn’t on the dock at the moment?

iPad Pro 9.7 with iOS 11PB3.

1. Go to Home Screen
2. Start a drag with any app (not the jiggling kind)
3. Bring up the app switcher
4. Hold over app you want to multitask with, it will come to the front and you can now place the app.
