Ok I bought a HP Pavilion from Walmart. It is a CS3075. It’s specs are a Intel i7 1065G7, 32G Optane, 16 Gigs Ram, 512 SSD. Intel Iris Plus. Cost was 679 on sale. Now I spent several days dialing in all my settings and such. I am getting some very high Benchmarks. Geekbench 5. Single Core..1346, Multi 4420, Compute 10580. Cinebench 20 CPU 1566, Single Core 446. I am way higher than others with the same set up. I put a hardware monitor on it and noticed something. Unless I am miss reading it. There are two versions of this CPU a 15w and a 25w. Please look at this .... am I wrong or right that my CPU is running 25W. Pretty damn good performance for a 700 buck laptop.

Looking at the HP page for the CS3075wm. The base frequency is 1.3Ghz.

Looking at the Intel page. When the base frequency is 1.3Ghz. The base TDP is 15W. Note this is the base TDP (PL1). The Turbo Boost frequency can have a much higher TDP (PL2). At any rate. I'd say HP configured the CPU with a 15W TDP. With a 25W TDP the base would be 1.5Ghz. Assuming I'm interpreting everything correctly.;)

As for your results. How clean your setup is when running the benchmarks affects the results. I imagine a lot of people have a bunch of background tasks running and left the unnecessary bloatware.

Are you gonna try to Opencore it?
How's the screen? Any backlight bleed?
Does the keyboard feel firm?

First thing I did when I got it was did a clean install of Windows so all the HP bloatware and apps were removed. Then I have Chrome, Affinity Photo and a few small reliable apps on it. I always run benchmarks with nothing else running. But I did run one with Affinity, Chrome, Edge, and Sims 4 running. Surprised I got only 10 pt drop across the board. ?

The keyboard is very nice. Firm key strokes without any wobble.
The screen is not to bad. No bleeding or dead pixels. I do wish it was a bit brighter but at 75 percent it’s good. We tend to keep our house dim.
I have a old PC laptop I am going to experiment with for Mint or something like that.
