Here's the Unboxing video:

Sorry for the bad quality, it was quickly done on my iPhone 6 and done through the terrible iMovie App, but anyway, here is the video. It's in extremely great condition, and it looked even better since I wiped it off with some Clorox wipes! I'm so happy with it right now.

Makes me wish my late 2008 MacBook Air here had come in the original box. Oh well. Thanks for the unboxing video. :)

Heh, the box was a huge bonus. It's in great condition too.

And no problem, you can thank @MacCubed for the idea! I was just going to take some pictures.

Bought the parts! I saved about 10 dollars and got it down to 59 as opposed to 67 by re-searching for the parts I needed and finding cheaper working and and compatible ones. Hopefully they will be coming very quickly. eBay and their "quality" shipping estimates say that they won't get here until next Monday, which I highly doubt. Anyway, that's all for now!

Ok so I got the disk drive and the fan, but the heatsink was missing. The listing clearly shows that there was a heatsink with it and there is no mention that it is just the fan. I wrote a message to them on eBay for assistance... Looks like the project is now going to be on hold until this gets cleared up.

3 posts in one day on here from me ;) Anyway, they are sending me a replacement free of charge right away. So hopefully it will come Saturday and then I'll build it and document it then. Everything else will (hopefully) be here tomorrow. So that's it for today, lol

1000th POST!

So I got the board and thermal paste yesterday. The heatsink will definitely be here tomorrow, along with my Mac Mini. Depending on my schedule, I may be able to do the upgrade tomorrow, but it could also be pushed back to Tuesday or later, but fear not, because this is definitely my top priority!

so follow me up on this... Because i have a macbook 3,1 since day 1 and i love this machine and i us eit for school. But it only can run lion and i hated that so im using snow.

THis motherboard.. does it fit with all the screws and everything or do you have to mod stuff out? and the heat sink is different from the 3,1 or are you just missing the one from the 3,1? I tried ML post factor and want to try to do mavericks on mine but its a lot of work and times running oiut..

As long as the computer has at least a GMA X3100, you can swap out the boards. However, I and many other who have done this fully recommend that you get an 09 bottom tray and swap out the old tray. The reason being is because there are some screw holes that aren't used on the new board and if you were to reused the old tray, you would need to remove the screw holes from the tray for the board to be able to fit.

Besides the board and tray, you will also need a SATA-based disk drive (Late 08, and all 09s have them), and an 09 heatsink. You can get either an early or mid 09 board. Both can be obtained from MacOfAllTrades's eBay page for $30 and $35, respectively.

So finally today I will be getting the new heat sink and if I have enough time, I will be installing the board and recording the entire process for everyone else to watch and do if they so please ;)

Well, I was just about to finish putting it together, when I realized, I have the wrong heatsink. The seller on eBay claimed that it was for 09 macbooks, and unknowingly, I bought it thinking so. Rather, it was the 2006-2008 heatsink, and it won't fit over the CPU and GPU.

Also, halfway through, I realized the bottom plates (old and new) were the exact same (EDIT: They actually were different and it came back to bite me when i was finishing the project!). Thinking I had to replace the bottom plate, I was disassembling the entire computer, when I really didn't have to. So I had to reattach everything I didn't need to and then go back and follow the instructions on how to remove just the logic board. This video is going to be very bumpy and will need a lot of editing, so it won't be done any time soon, and the project won't be either until I get the proper heatsink. I messaged the seller and he hasn't gotten back to me yet, but hopefully he does very soon so I can try again for a 3rd time to get what I need...
