Earlier today I had my Vison Pro demo. We were going to a different mall and I already had my reservation. I canceled it and when we were at the Apple Store I asked if there was any way I could do the demo since online there were no more options for today. There actually were times I could do for today. I also didn't need my Apple ID (that's not a problem but something that should be known for people who don't have one). I started early and we were getting everything ready. They scanned my glasses to get an estimate of what prescription I have for the lenses and they did a face scan for the band and light seal. I needed to get the Apple Store app and do the scanning, just like when you do it when you buy the Vision Pro. I don't know if non-Apple users can still get the right sizes a different way (or not have the right ones). There were problems when I put on Vision Pro. There was light leakage and there was pressure at my nose. We tried the duo strap but that didn't work. A new problem came with that: the headset was too low. After more changes, we were able to start. We did photos, panoramas, multiple windows, environments, Apple TV, and Encounter Dinosaurs. My field of vision was not good and people were complaining about that. There was still light leakage through the light seal (and I could see it). It wasn't noticeable when I did the demo. Also, at one point, I was trying to exit out of the compatible apps folder but I couldn't get the button to click. There were other little problems too. I did see/hear the 3D and audio effects. The sounds in the dinosaur app were coming from in front of me at a distance and at one point sounds from behind me when a dinosaur was coming from there. I moved my head and I could see more of another part of a rock and other 3D effects I saw. One of the videos in the Apple TV app was one that showed different scenes and a narrator talking about Vision Pro and having these VR experiences. There are still things I want to know do decide if I'm gonna buy Vision Pro when I have a job like using it without the light seal for a better field of vision and if the games I play are in the App Store (or will be).

I did the demo and had no issues with the fit. When I completed the fit check after ordering it, I did notice pressure on my cheeks and it took a while to find a comfortable fit. I ordered the ZEISS inserts. That was a separate process. I’m still waiting for them.

Also, there were marks on my face, which is another thing people were complaining about.
People wake up with marks on their face depending on how they were sleeping. If you’ve ever done any activity that requires headgear, it will leave marks on your face. I take off my hockey goalie mask and I have the sweatband imprinted on my forehead for a few minutes.

You do know that these marks are very temporary, right?

I did the Vision Pro demos again. I didn't answer the glasses questions online and I didn't have to. The only thing that had to be established was if they were prescriptions and then they were scanned. This Specialist said that the machine would get the exact prescription, but the one during the first demo said an approximate. I was able to do other things than the first one since this wasn't my first time and the Specialist knew that (from me saying that when he asked because of something I said). This time, I saw a special video, went to a website (YouTube) in Safari, typed on the virtual keyboard in Notes, used the touchscreen and also drew on it, and went to Keynote and did the Steve Jobs Theater environment for presentations. I wanted to see a 3D movie rather than Apple's Vision Pro videos in the Apple TV app. There weren't any 3D movies in the demo. I was able to make the screen bigger than before but not the 100-feet-wide big. There was still the little-problem-hand-tracking-at-one-point thing and also eye-tracking. There were, one or two times, accidental things that happened from my hands and I wasn't trying to select anything. When I did the Vision Pro experience video because there were no 3D movies, it wasn't showing. I could hear it, but the screen was black. When I was watching one of the trailers (one of the Jurassic World/Park movies) after that, it was a little quiet or I wanted it to be a little louder. I found out that there's an immersive view for spacial videos and it puts you right in the moment along with the 3D effect. I used the solo loop with the strap more up instead of the duo loop and the problem was pressure/uncomfortably on my forehead and had a worse/bigger mark than the marks I had last time.

Just a note, but Mad Max in 3D is free on Apple TV+ till 4/30. Watch that for an insane experience (set the environment to Mount Hood dark to make it even better, the reflections off the water look amazing).

I had a number of similar issues during my demo. One thing to keep in mind is the app isn’t perfect. The in-store scan of my face came back with a 25W light seal. When I did it in the App Store, it came back with a 23W. I’d heard the 21W is what a number of people were going with to get a better field of view. So I tried it. Kept getting the eyes too close message so stayed with the 23W. Eye tracking was better with the 23W than the 25W. Should say - I do have the Weiss readers.

Have had my VP now for about 2.5 weeks. Using beta’s, getting the eyes too close message a lot. But it seems to just be a nuisance. There are times when eye tracking fails, but it does work most of the time and is still magical to me. There are also times when it will react when I don’t want it to like you described. But, it’s not too bad and pretty sure Apple will improve it over time with software.

If this tech inspires you, and it won’t break the bank, get it. You have 14 days to try it out. That was my thinking. And I’ve been more excited on a daily basis finding new things and ways of using it. The world as your monitor is super cool and better than being tied to physical monitors. When I’m not wearing it, I miss it.

To get over 100-feet, you need to set the Appearance to Extra Large in Settings > Display and enable Two-Handed Window Zoom.
