I wrote an iPhone widget to do forward/reverse DNS lookup: it matches a network host name (eg, cornell.edu) with a numerical network address (or IP address: in this example, 128.253.161.179). It also uses GeoIP mapping to return geographical information (eg, Ithaca, NY) -- click on the location to see it in iPhone's Google Maps browser!
