Hi,
I have a very large music and movie collection and I'm looking to back it up in a Raid format such as Raid 5 so that I don't lose all my movies in case my current 1TB external HD fails.
I was looking at the HP media smart although it seems a bit a little expensive, I was wondering would it be the same thing if I simply used one of my computers and just stuck in 4 harddrives raided them in Raid 5 and connected it to my network? If I was to do this would it be best to remove windows Vista off the machine and Linux?
If there is a better option please let me know the main thing is I would like to have a couple of TBs to backup my movies in which I'll be safe if a HD goes bad and I wont lose my collection.
