Need Advice!!...12 inch PB

Planning on buying my 12 inch Powerbook, and i was wondering if the 768 from 512 Ram upgrade is worth it and will actually make a difference?!...and also if i should buy the Apple Care Plan with it or not?! First time mac buyer!...

do not buy the RAM from apple, get it from Crucial and yes get applecare.

(get a gig stick from crucial)

eva01 gives great advice. Just to add to it, you don't need to think about AppleCare straight away. You get it standard for the first year of your Mac anyway and you can purchase it anytime within that year.
