Hi y'all,

I've got a 13-inch Early 2011 MBP, 2.3GHz i5 with 4GB memory.

I'm wondering whether it's worth opening the guts and chucking an SSD at 16GB memory in there or it's just not worth it?

This MBP is pretty much used as my desktop setup at home. I've plugged it into a Samsung monitor and have the mouse and keyboard on the desk.
I find that I don't use it that often because it's pretty laggy and slow when it comes to doing multiple functions.

I need a desktop at home regardless so any advice is much appreciated!

You don't need "Mac memory". This has to be one of the longest running scams out there.

I would suggest getting DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) instead since you Mac can handle it.

DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) also works.

Crucial CT2KIT51264BF160BJ is pretty well priced, at least here in the USA.
