Guys, I need some help, I am getting this error after my MBP retina 15 early 2013 restarts after randomly (I think it crashes under load) shutting down and restarting.

I think it is an hardware issue as it was happening before I upgraded to macOS 15, and it still happens after I finished upgrading. Sometimes, when I turn it on, the display just stayed black (no light at all), while I can hear the dong sound when it turns on. I can even increase or decrease the keyboard backlit brightness after a while. So I am suspecting my GPU is giving up. Any thoughts or advice after reading the error message?

Any help is appreciated, thx in advance!

Not sure if it also affects the Early 2013 machines but I know 2012 retinas had issues with the GPU Power Controller developing cold solder joints and in result loosing electrical contact with the mainboard. It's a simple fix to someone who has the tools as it just involves resoldering one QFN component.

That's some good info right there.

So I am suspecting my GPU is giving up.

Even if the GPU was failing, wouldn't the Intel onboard graphics kick in? I think that's even stronger evidence a loose connection could be the culprit. 2013 is still a good machine, more repairable than current models, should be a reasonable cost-efficient fix if it's a single component.

thank you, I think you might be right, I will take it to a local technician and tell him that is my suspicion, so he can take a closer look.

it usually goes black when the dedicated GPU kicks in, now you mention it, I think i should try forcing the integrated GPU and see if it still happens.

Early 2013 15" with the 650M is one of the models affected by Nvidiagate. It's a hardware problem. Bad solder joints as mentioned above.
