iPad New Ipad air good for artistic picture editing and drawing?

has made a wish for an ipad for drawing and photo editing, for her birthday.
The Ipad pro is pretty expensive. So I wonder if the new Ipad air is all good to use. It is, after all, quite close to the old Ipad Pro, isn`t it?
