new macbook rumor updates

recently (last week?) came some rumors about new slim aluminium macbooks, since then no more news has surfaced. is there usually an average time span between rumors of this kind? i would guess that rumors become more frequent as the launch date of an apple products gets closer. but i thought that some-one who has followed apple rumors for a while may know the average time gaps or cycle that is typical between rumours, or if its all down to random.

any comments would be interesting.
