============

FYSA, I just opened my Home app and got this pop up. It appears in the app like an available update. Seems like a handy feature. Whether it works or not is a different story.

Yup just had the option too. Strangely, detection is only enabled on one of my HomePods (mini) rather than all of them apart from my OG of course (I only have 4 minis and one OG).

Same here. Only one single OG and a stereo pair of OG’s got the feature out of 14 total HomePods (mix of Minis and OG’s). That’s Apple for ya, eh?

Mmmm, maybe it will take a while to roll out to our other HomePods. It's a great feature in theory...

This is the text from the initial intro screen:

HomePod can send you notifications when it recognises smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds and allow home members to check in wherever they are.

Sound Recognition and the ability to check in work on every HomePod in your home. Turning this on also enables it for any HomePod added to the home and for all members of the home.
You can change this later in Settings.

Yeah, hopefully. Out of curiosity, did you update remotely or on home Wi-Fi? I did mine remotely and was afraid it got screwed up.

I received the panel of the new feature. Enabled it, pushed the test button on one of my smokes, and HomePod failed to send a notification.

Meanwhile my Echo Show and Kidde RemoteLync detect smokes and co2.

Another failed rollout!

I've just tried it and it doesn't work for me either. But I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt, with the function having to be pushed out to each HomePod, and try it again tomorrow.

Definitely not surprised in the least bit. Let’s see what this functionality broke now lol.

I just tried it and it worked for me...at least it did when I played this video on my iPad from the other side of the room. (I didn’t want to set my actual alarms off.)

Only one out of six minis and the stereo pair of OG's got this new feature.
Also, I only see the feature enabled on the Home App on my iPhone, if I check it using the Home App on the Mac it doesn't show up.

They’ll start popping up. Got 9/14 showing up now.

What's the point of this tbh, if I am hearing a smoke detector, I do not need Siri saying "There is a smoke detector". I turned it on cause why not.
