As I have over 50GB available at the moment (upgrade from a 16GB storage model) I was going to add some videos just because I can. The old videos app seems to be no more. What is the nearest equivalent?

Using the App Store, my old iPad was set to only ask for my password when an app wasn’t free. I’m having to do Touch ID for everything even if it’s free. Is the setting that I had still available? When Touch ID is done, it says processing payment for what should be a free app. Free apps still display with ‘Get’ where chargeable ones would state the price, don’t they?

Thanks

You could use the VLC app for videos, its now and easy to use and gives you a few options for putting files into it.

I noticed the other day it said processing payment for a free app, i think its just something thats changed in a recent iOS update possibly. I doubt you'll get charged for it in any way.

See this link regarding the app store etc, seems once you enable touch id for the app store instead of the password you are prompted for touch ID each time. Not sure having to do Touch ID or Face ID is that big an inconvenience mind you. Article suggests you can set it as you had it on your iPad where you dont get prompted for free items but you have to use your password for paid. You cant seem to do nothing for free and touch id for paid.
