Now that iCloud Messages can be sync'd to iCloud, it would be great if Notifications across the board could be sync'd there too - make this an across the board option across all apps, not leaving it to apps to implement their own solution (some 3rd party apps do this now). It would be nice to see that if a notification is dismissed on one device it is dismissed everywhere. This will make more sense once Mac OS 12 is out and notifications can be grouped - then, I could easily dismiss for example all the CNN notifications at once.

Big issue with the idea, not all apps are cross-platform. How does one handle (or more importantly, Apple under the covers) the situation where app might be phone only, and the Notification would pop-up on an iPad? Or user only installs the app on one platform but not the others?

Big issue with iCloud Notifications is that when tapped, there might not be an appropriate action vs. with Messages, Messages are across all Apple platforms (including Mac): you go to Messages and do something. Deleting/clearing a Notification from a different device sounds nice, but can now see people getting upset (or really not understanding what they are doing) that the Notification they cleared will not show on the real device and they forget to act on the Notification. Sure, can give people a popup, "Are you sure you want to clear this Notification across all devices?", and now you get people complaining about the warning.

Noone will be happy, and not much bang for the buck for Apple, imo.

If people not complaining was the requirement 90% of the features we have would not have been implemented.

The bang for the buck is more usefulness out of iCloud, and tighter integration of devices (and simplifying the code by offering a feature some third parties have built into their product). If the point is not to have to clear a notification on multiple devices it goes without too much thought that it neither shows up or needs to be deleted where it doesn't exist or the app isn't installed. I really see this as syncing where the notification exists, so redundant actions can be eliminated. Third party apps do the now, read a Gmail message on one app and the notification disappears on all other devices where Gmail is installed.
