Next Macs placeholders are right in front of us 2022-2023

So, I believe the next Macs placeholders are already in the lineup right in front of our faces.

#1 - the M1 MacBook Air at $999 is the placeholder for an M2 12-inch (12.2-12.4”) MacBook Air. Once stock is depleted of that enclosure (it’s the most popular Mac, so I’m sure the current production and stock will start to taper down once the design of 12 inch is finalized), this computer will probdbly release in 2023 at some point.

#2 - the M2 13.3” MBP is the only portable M2 with a fan. It is the placeholder for a 15-inch MacBook or MacBook Studio, single fan design, M2, but none of the Pro display or ports. Apples gotta sell off those enclosures, boxes (literally with a sticker covering M1 info), and enclosures while finishing design.

#3 - Studio Display - this bodes very well for a 27 inch iMac, probably branded as iMac Pro. Or perhaps, since current iMac is called iMac 24 inch, there may be a 27 inch iMac, and an iMac pro that is 32”. Nonetheless, we can expect at least 1 larger iMac model, if not 2.

And, of course, the Intel Mac Pro is a placeholder for an ASi one. Not gonna go too much in guessing that one, because it may feature a lot we haven’t seen. Such as, stuff allowing it to have 1TB+ of RAM.

M2 Pro and up will probably feature big jumps on GPU and RAM. Apple will go big with this machine.

#1 it is normal for Apple to introduce new laptop models and then slowly lowered price with each revision. Has happened many times, including for the Macbook Air.

True. The opposite is true is well. Larger MBP went from $1999, to $2399, and now $2499. It looks very doubtful that 13.6” MBA will drop. It’s more likely 12” MBA will fill that $999 price point in this lineup.

If memory serves me right it went from $2399 to $1999 and then back up. The $1999 model was with slower Intel integrated GPU. Also, why $2499? The 16” Pro starts at $2,299

If memory serves me right it went from $2399 to $1999 and then back up. The $1999 model was with slower Intel integrated GPU. Also, why $2499? The 16” Pro starts at $2,299

I could not be remembering, but, I don’t remember the base price going up with a discrete GPU, then going back down but only with the integrated.
