Apple TV no IR after jailbreaking?

Hi

I've got a US purchased (I live in Israel atm) ATV2 (purchased april '11)
it worked perfectly, until I tried jailbreaking it. When I did, it seemed to be working (showed picture on monitor..) but couldn't get any remote commands (using original apple aluminium remote).

Tried replacing batteries, restoring it - still doesn't work.

any ideas? no official Apple retailers or support in Israel, so there's no one to turn to...
