Thanks ! I don’t see option to connect to Apple TV as hub or share with my wife the HomeKit .... how do I do that ?

Sharing is accomplished through sending an invite from within the Home app. Click the arrow on the top left of the Home app’s home screen and the option to “Invite...” should be right in the middle of the setting screen that comes up.

See..

..for all info pertaining to getting the Apple
TV set up as a hub.

I’ve always followed this..

..and it has always worked.

If not, Apple provides this..

Can’t imagine it still not working if you’ve been sure to double-check both of those lists item for item.

Only thing I can possibly think of is that you are letting the items go to sleep.

I’m under the impression that for HomeKit to work reliably - you have to have your hubs remain “awake” all of the time.

That being said - I’ve never used the iPad as a hub - but, do have 3 Apple TVs set to never sleep and they seem to handoff things nicely to each other whenever need be.

In my case, an old iPad mini 1st gen running iOS 9.3.3 did slow the whole HomeKit functions in the house, but only if I tried to interact with HK on the device. When in doubt, try turning all the iOS devices except one and try to resolve the issue first.

When the HomeKit Hub function is enabled on the Apple TV, it should go into standby (not sleep) after a period of time and still have the hub functionality enabled, so long as the standby/sleep settings are not fiddled with.

I still have not resolved this.... my issue is that HUB shows always not connected on iPhone where on Apple TV it shows its connected to the Home ? really lost

All your hubs will sleep but one. You don't even need a hub to use HomeKit, Hubs are just for remote access. I attached a screen shot to show our places hub setup.

Well, that and setting up automations from the Home app.

Anyways, I wonder if the OP is still getting "Disconnected" instead of "Standby"? If it's the former it won't become active on as-needed basis like the latter.
