I've been attempting to create a portrait mode monitor on my iPad using sidecar on macOS. It seems that this is not possible. I've even tried connecting an external monitor, rotating to portrait mode and then connecting iPad sidecar. No cigar.

I've also tried countless other remote solutions such as TeamViewer, vnc connect, jump desktop, etc... Not only do these not support custom resolutions and portrait mode but the keyboard interaction layers are seriously lacking and buggy. The only good remote client I've had success with is called remmina. Unfortunately it only works to remote from ubuntu to windows.

What's the solution here? We NEED a good client from iPad/mobile devices to macOS!

Sincerely,

So far the best and easiest option is vnc viewer on iPad. All you have to do is enable Screen sharing in macOS settings and go to link. However, this is the result when trying portrait mode:
