No sound with Starcraft

I just installed Starcraft on my new Macbook Pro. I've got a 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo and I'm running 10.4.10. I installed the patch from Blizzard so that it's version 1.15.1. Unfortunately, when I launch the game, it has no sound. It's also pretty unstable- it crashed right before launching the first mission. Restarting the game let me play the first mission, but then it froze right before launching the second mission. Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated.
