Hardware:

I've created a USB installer as official guide.
Inserted and pressed alt key
Efi boot
Install monterey (note: the gui is very slow to respond to click like minutes)
Installation start
At 13 min remaining it reboot (?)
Select macos installer
Keep stuck at this screen

Pretty sure the GT120 is the problem (no Metal support). I assume the RX470 is more likely to work.

If you left both GPUs in, the machine will not boot.

what nvme do you use. Some are known to not working.

I've tried. Switching to the rx 470 i see only a black screen. Tried to press enter with no results.
Using both I see the boot but it stuck in the following line.
I'm using ADWITS PCI Express 3.0 4x 8x da 16x a M.2 NVMe e AHCI SSD with an intenso nvme of 256 gb.

Thank for your help

Hi,
it's 2 week that I'm tring to install Monterey without success.
Any guide on internet is like, double click ond go, and it's very frustating.
Now I've tried with both Monterey and Sonoma and obtain the error in title (see also attached full log).
In the meantime I've removed the NVME, so it happens with a simple sata hhd, using RX 470.

Any idea? In the rows above it seem and error related to the disk, but what disk? The sata disk is clean...

lol, sure, all the tests made after your response are without the nvidia, only the rx 470. That was a test I made and for your information the system boot, but give other errors.

Now I've removed also the nvme, installing a clean sata disk. With both monterey and sonoma I obtain a critical error.

ASSERT [OpenLegacyBoot] OpenLegacyBoot.c(453): *Entries != ((void *) 0)

Attached the full log.

Thanks a lot

Did you install the EFI partition?
You need to configure OCLP EFI with the GPU in place. It will add different drivers dependent on configuration.

Yes I’ve used the oclp app and installed it on the usb drive, running it in the same Mac I want upgrade. Also added the amd gop.

I am very new to Mac Pro's and Apple software, so I might be stating the obvious concerning your installation of Monterey. However, after creating an OCLP boot (USB) drive for OS Monterey, my installation attempts repeatedly entered a never-ending loop. The advice I got from one of the seasoned contributors on this forum was the following: clear the PC's NVRAM by holding option/command plus "R" and "P" three times. Amazingly, Monterey (and later Ventura, Sonoma and Win 10) installed without problem.
