Only 57GB Available on New iMac

Hi Everyone,

Just curious why my machine is showing 57.19 GB of 500GB available. I’ve attached some pics. If more info is needed just let me know. There isn’t any information displayed that adds up anywhere near to 500. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for reading. I should’ve screen shot that as well, but what it said was “other” and was 300something GB. On another forum it was explained to me that it was “purgeable” data, and/or Time Machine backups, and would adjust as needed. Didn’t really answer my question of what it is exactly, or where it came from, but that’s the best answer I could find.
