Just had the call for which I've been waiting... my local camera shop has now rung me up to tell me that there is a nice brand-new D200 sitting on their shelves with my name on it, just waiting for me to come and get it!

Thanks, Gary, I'll definitely check that one out, too. Someone also told me that Tamron and Tokina each have really good ones in this range, too....

I need a camera. Nothing fancy though. I've been thinking about the Fujifilm FinePix E900 or Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 or Canon PowerShot S80. Can't make up my mind.
