Open apps in the same position

I am new to Mac OS. Hence, my question below.
When opening applications, is there a way to have them always open in the same position on the screen?

Example, when opening TextEdit in particular, the window never seems to open in the same position. Then again, the likes of Chrome and Email seems to. Rather odd, no?
