I updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 7 today. Both times was asked in the setup to create a passcode, which I had not done with either device before. Used the same code for both, but now the iPad rejects it and has disabled my iPad. What now?

Anybody??

Used the Recovery Mode instructions found here:

http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonetroubleshooting/a/Iphone-Recovery-Mode.htm

On restart, I was presented with the iOS 7 setup screens again. I entered no passcode this time (won't be trying that again any time soon) and restored everything from backup. Fortunately (and for some bizarre reason known only to Apple), the iPad did back up to my Mac even though the iPad itself was locked.

A very scary experience. Worst of all, no idea how it happened.
