Pay over retail for AW?

Absolutely not. The wait is not that long now if you order a Watch from Apple.

Also, you lose about 10% in fees when you sell something on eBay, so it's hardly worth the trouble for whoever sold it for that price. (in my opinion)

Check out Craigslist. There are plenty going for much more over retail than that. Just now saw a SGS 42mm going for $550 "firm".

The link in OP is for a future ship date, seller didn't even have it yet. Definitely wouldn't buy third party at this point.

Someone was bidding £50 over retail for a used watch with just under an hour to go earlier today. Madness.

No way. I suppose I can (sort of) understand the high demand after the initial hype to bid a super high amount for an order that got in the early window of April 24-May 7. 600-700+ for a Sport for example, still see a few of these online...not as many though. If they had the money..ok why not I guess.

It doesn't make sense now since most will be in stores soon (my guess is still this coming Friday) Limited I think, but at least retail stock will be there.

God, I was surfing for 3rd party bands on EBay, I saw one listing last night for a elusive 42mm Space Black SS Case /Black SS Link band approaching $2000 last night with 10 minutes left - Not new, used! Wow. They have a 5-6 week delivery on Apple. Like I said, if they have the money, can't wait any longer..more power to them I suppose and obviously more money to the seller.

Just because someone is "asking" $550 doesn't mean it's "going" for $550. It may not be "going" anywhere.

The secondary market is still pretty brisk, and I imagine the stock in stores will be like iPhone launches at this point, particularly with all the different combinations...
