Hey everyone.

Just booted up my PB5,6 here for funsies, upgraded TFF, and noticed some slowdown here and there.

Tried to download an old version of Mac Fan Control, but no dice for whatever reason.

And the bottom is getting quite warm on my legs. Is it normal for the fan to not cool very well? Or maybe my fan isn't working? Any way to tell?

Okie dokie. So I noticed the battery wasn't showing a charge after being plugged in for about an hour, so I pulled it. And rebooted.

Ran the Kraken benchmark, and the fan kicked on.....Took me a minute to remember where the fan was, but surprisingly, it's working now!

PowerBooks are set to have the fan come on around 140º F.

G4FanControl is hit or miss with PB models. It has never worked on my 17" PowerBooks.

As far as T4Fx, the Mac will heat up if the CPU is busy. The CPU gets busy with web browsers because there is a lot of garbage code on the net that our old Macs have problems with.

In my signature is a link to optimizing T4Fx. Might take a look.
