Apple currently sells a Remote Loop that has this lightning cable that “locks in” and doesn’t come out easily.

Any entrepreneurial people out there wanna make the same thing but with a spot for AirTag at end?

Belkin Keychain

My setup for now:

You could just use that loop and thread it through the hole on an AirTag keychain case.

That is what I am doing. It just probably won’t be the prettiest solution. But, it’s as perfect a combo as we can get to date.

Alternatively, you can use this airtag sleeve. It has adhesive backing to stick to the remote. I personally prefer this because I don’t want my 3-year-old to play with the loop or try to pull it off, and no definitive confirmation about whether the loop is compatible with the new remote (it most likely is), and it’s just $3.
