Alright, I've got my old 68k Performa sitting next to me, I formatted it earlier today, it's currently running OS 8.1, clean install. I used to be able to get on the net with it, however for some reason, for the life of me I can't get anything to work! I really want to get some use out of it with an IRC client or something or some classic games, but I just can't seem to get it to connect to the net. I'm using a US Robotics 56k external modem. I think the DIP switches on the modem might be messed up, I've tried messing with them to no avail, and also I've tried installing the software that came with it of course, no luck. Any ideas? To the best of my knowledge everything is configured properly and it should be working. I'm trying to connect via SBC dialup. I was searching/reading around, and I found some things about direct connecting the machine to this pc (winxp, sp2, connected directly to dsl modem) for net connection sharing over the modems on the two machines. I don't really understand how to do this though because since it's a modem and all, it needs a phone number to dial I would guess, and I've never heard of giving your pc a phone number=\ Anyways, has anyone tried something like this? Links to software/articles would be greatly appreciated!
