EDIT: SyncMaster 19" (bootscreen) monitor eventually went bad and died.

Hi all,

After updating my EFI (840 EVO SSD on DUO x2) Windows 8 Pro x64 to 8.1 - for being able to update to Windows 10 Pro x64 - I had several reboots whilst updating all additional Windows updates. So far so good, BUT:

After rebooting into OS X 10.10.4 my 19" bootscreen monitor, hooked on the ATI 2600 HD XT shows the OS bootscreen, but after that it goes black on me. My 2nd and 3rd monitor connected to a PC GTX 670 fires up as normal. Of course the monitor rearrangement was screwed up.

Rebooted in Windows 8.1 again and guess what.... My 19" bootscreen monitor just works as it used to after first showing the Windows bootscreen as well.

This setup has worked for me for such a long time without any problems. Even did some inquiries here on MR:

After updating to OS X 10.10.4 I still never experienced this.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

PCI setup:

slot#1 GTX-670 FTW 4GB PC
slot#2 ATI 2600 HD XT
slot#3 DUO x2
slot#4 FASTPRO USB3/eSATA

Cheers

Doing some more research on this issue myself. Rebooted into my CCC bootable backup and restored permissions on my OS X SSD:

There seems to be an issue with the “private/var/db/displaypolicyd”. Repaired permissions but problem persists.

I found this thread on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6624349?start=0&tstart=0

If anybody could chime in that would be great, it's a long thread with a lot of trials-and-error attemps. Will go an read some more...

Cheers

BTW I hate to be confronted with the past tense of "It just works!" as this issue happened overnight without any tinkering of my OS X

After reboot into SSD OS X 10.10.4 still black screen on the ATI 2600 HD XT. Permissions back to square one!

Repairing permissions for “DUOX2_OSXYOS4

Permissions differ on “usr/lib/ruby”; should be lrwxr-xr-x ; they are drwxr-xr-x.
Repaired “usr/lib/ruby”User differs on “private/var/db/displaypolicyd”; should be 0; user is 244.
Group differs on “private/var/db/displaypolicyd”; should be 0; group is 244.
Repaired “private/var/db/displaypolicyd”

Permissions repair complete

Very annoying this...

Cheers

Did some Console checks:

Code:

Active, on-line, enabled, Vendor 22f0, Model 26f3, S/N 0, Unit 3, Rotation 0
UUID 0xe23e59f6a4560b356c12c102a7a45a05
17/07/15 13:25:05,767 WindowServer[232]: Display 0x003f003c: GL mask 0x1; bounds (0, 0)[0 x 0], 1 modes available

Where it seems that Display 0x003f003c is the crippled ATI 2600 HD XT connected 19" monitor that is OFF-LINE.

Cheers

Moved some hardware (slot#) around and performed a PRAM reset, lost even the bootscreen on the ATI now! Swapping some monitors and cables soon

Cheers and enjoy the weekend
