Hello,

Have a Folder on iPhone with probably a few hundred photos.,
and a few videos.

Would hate to lose them.

What's the "best" way of backing them up to something, probably, external
to my desktop mac ? (a few options, perhaps ?)

Thanks,
Bob

The simplest and free solution - plug your iPhone to your Mac with its charging cable and then import all of the photos/videos into Photos app on your Mac. You can then copy them to any external disk or NAS from your Mac.

Another one that might cost you (storage charges) - enable iCloud Photo Library under Settings > Photos and all of your photos/videos would be saved in iCloud from any of your devices using the same Apple ID.
