General Photos from iPad won't show up on iPhone but the reverse happens

When I take pictures or screenshots on my iPhone, they show up on my iPad, on the Photos app.
But the opposite doesn't happen, pictures and screenshots I take on the iPad don't show up on the iPhone, and I want them to.
The settings for iCloud and Photos and Camera are identical on both devices, both devices are on the latest iOS version, have WiFi, battery, and are of course logged to the same Apple account.
How do I troubleshoot this?
