Has anyone heard anything about this as a Mac title? Also, how does the Direct X requirement impact using boot camp it there isn't a Mac specific release?

No, as far as I have been able to tell a MAC (or any other platform except windows) release is very unliekly.
As for playing it in boot camp. Well of course you can be beware game certainly requires a hefty gfx card to run properly, which would count most MAC's out unfortunatly.
However that said it is a great games, I've played the beta a bit and really enjoyed it a lot. Reminds me a bit of how star wars galaxies used to be before they pretty much wrote a new game using the resources of the old!
