iPad Playing 4k from microsd card possible?

So, i know the ipad air and ipad air 2 can easily play 4k files.
The problem is....i want to play them directly on the device. i do not want to connect it to a PC first.

What options are there? Basicly connecting a microsd card to the ipad air to play 4k video files?
The better option would be to watch directly instead of copying first, but if there is no other way it will have to suffice

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish...

The iPad does not have a microsd card.

You could stream the files via Plex.
