There is a great app for POP-checking Yahoo, YPOPs, which is free. I've used on PC and it works nicely, not like email forwarding programs. There is a MACOS X version, and the author provides the code and compiling instruction, but he says he doesn't have enough experience to make a stand alone installer. It should be fairly easy for someone with experience to do.
