It was recently noted that in 10.3.5 there is support for new powerbook models (listed in /System/Library/Extensions/AppleMacRISC4PE.kext/Contents/Info.plist as powerbook7,1 and 7,2).

Can any of you having a copy of Tiger check if they appear also there (maybe in the latest build)??

They may also appear in
/System/Library/SystemProfiler/SPPlatformReporter.spreporter/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Localizable.strings
but that's not the case in 10.3.5 for instance.

All current info would suggest that it is going to be a while, if ever, before we see G5s in Powerbooks. It looks like the next revision will have some form of G4 in it. If that will be a dual-core G4 or what, is surely up for debate. I hope we see a G5, but I doubt it. But if the new rumored G4 is not vaporware, it could be a really sweet little computer. So we'll see.
