My sister has a powerbook g4 (the models before the new screens I believe). Anyway she has said that recently it has been getting really hot. Anyone know of any issues with the powerbook g4 and heat? She is over in Canada a the moment so I can't take a look. Any ideas what is wrong?

It's normal for PowerBooks (or any Apple notebook) to get very hot. The computer will shut itself off before any components can be damaged.
i have a powerbook (the revision just before the very last..which was that, anyway?), 1.67 GHz, 15"... gets *very* hot after not too long. i often use it on my lap (though i put a blanket between it and my legs) for hours on end, and throughout the year that i've had it, no damage or problems have come up as a result. as far as i've always been told, it's a normal trait of apple notebooks - i would tell your sister not to be too worried about it!
