I have a 5,1 2.8 quad. I installed a booster X5 450w power supply in optical drive bay 2 which powers the powercolor 6990.
The card works when using the supplied version of catalyst (11.6). However I cant detect more than 2 displays at once.
I am using 3 acer x233w lcd's, 2 are connected via mdp to vga, the third is dvi. The display configuration worked fine on the 5870 i had in before. Any combination of ports does not seem to work, only a max of any 2 displays will work.
Any other version of catalyst 11.7-.8-.11 preview all cause multiple red pixels and tearing. I've also had a few BSOD. These drivers also give me display detection issues.
Is the card defective or did i miss something?

Turns out the old display drivers weren't completely uninstalled.

Article gave a very thorough description of how to remove unwanted drivers. Im currently on catalyst 11.9 with cap 3, eyefinity @ 5040x1050 and no issues.
