There may be a very simple solution to this, but I have not been able to find it.
I noticed recently that the images in some of my iMessage conversations have been uploaded to iCloud and removed from my device. There is an option in each chat to download the images in iCloud, but the images are quickly re-offloaded (within a week).
(A secondary question: are messages similarly offloaded and only accessible through iCloud?)
I want to have all my iMessage data downloaded locally at all times. I would love to keep Messages "on" in iCloud settings, but if turning this off is the only way to achieve this goal then I will.
