With the new MacBook Pros likely to be announced soon, has there been a history of a price drop at all on the previous models? For example, if I were to wait for the 2016 model to be released, but then purchase the 2015 MBP, is there any reliable history about what has been done (in the short term) with that pricing?

Right now the 13" non-Retina MBP, sells (probably for it's last few days) at $1,099, compared to the 13" Retina MBP, for $1,299.

Anyways, any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Could go either way.

1) They'll keep the current models along with the redesigned ones and drop the pricing on the older ones.
2) They'll discontinue the current models and replace them with the redesigned ones.

In either case, the prices from retailers will still be cheaper than directly from Apple.

We're talking next week for the announcement. 100% new MacBook Pros. Literally next week, 27th October. Just wait and see what's what.

I would expect to see the 2015 retina models drop in price around $100-150 until they are sold out.

There may well be but not at Apple. They will just stop stop selling the 2015 except in the refurb store. Apple only usually keep their current computer software in stock with the 2012 cMbp being the exception that proves the rule.

You can pickup a new 2015 rMBP 15" for around $2200 now from many retailers, and maybe cheaper on eBay. I expect these prices will drop a little after the new release.

They are all ready pretty cheap on the refurb store, I am waiting for the 2016 MBP to be announced and hopefully the refurbs will drop even more so I can order one.
