Hey, I know that the cheapest recent mac portables are going for 1099 at the apple store. I believe cheaper with the education discount. Now that the Macbook line is out, that means the PowerPC's are taking a hit in resale value correct?
I've seen some iBooks 1.33 Ghz and Powerbooks 1.5 Ghz and higher sell for more than the cost of the Macbook, which recently has outclassed the PPC machines. Apple even stated that the Macbook held its ground against the last Rev. E Powerbook G4 1.67 Ghz machine.
Now my question, is it valid for the 1.67 Ghz Alumbooks still worth over 1099? Shouldn't they be less than 1099 since the Macbook itself outworks the 1.67 Powerbooks? And if that's the case, doesn't that mean the 12" PB's, iBooks, and the 15" PB's all take a heavy hit? If so, why are there still people buying them for over the cost of a brand new Macbook? If you take a look at Ebay, the market is still high for G4's...even G3's! They are still being sold for 200-350 bux! They should be in the $100 range shouldn't they?
