Hello!

How do I get the Pro Display firmware update 4.2.30?
Mine is still at 3.3.23 and the update panel in system preferences is showing nothing.
Mac OS version is 10.15.7

Thanks for your help!

Curious as to this answer as well. I've heard about unplugging the monitor for a while, then rebooting your Mac. That never seemed to work for mine.

I was also stuck on 3.3.23. Then a couple of days ago, my M1 Mac mini crashed(!) while doing nothing "Your computer restarted because of a problem".

Upon reboot, I got the notification for a ProDisplay XDR firmware upgrade, which brought me to 4.2.37.

I'm on macOS 11.1 public release.

1. Make sure you have the very latest macOS installed.
2. Unplug the power chord from the display (ok to leave TB3 cable connected).
3. Wait 30 seconds.
4. Plug power cable back in and make sure display powers up.
5. Carry on as normal, and watch for a system notification in top right (takes 10-30 minutes to show up).
6. In the notification that says a XDR Display firmware update is available, select the option to update now.
7. In case you mess up the notification part (I did at first), restart from step 1.
