This has likely been discussed before but if you live or work somewhere with poor cell coverage, put your phone into Airplane Mode when at home or work. I don't have great cell coverage at home (with any of the Big Three U.S. providers). This made sending and receiving texts and calls difficult, even when on WiFi. 30% of my battery life each day went to "No cell coverage".

This all changed a couple years ago when I started putting my phone in Airplane Mode at home (just turning off cell antenna). Now my battery lasts much longer and I have no connectivity issues with calls or texts. When I leave home, I turn airplane mode off.
