Purchase MobileMe or wait?

I'm planning on purchasing an iPhone 4 next month and would like to use MobileMe along. I'm only 16 years old and was planning on buying it from the store rather then credit card. Should I buy it now or wait a couple weeks? Also, for my email "@me.com" I would want a certain username and how can I check if its still available? Thanks!
