Iphone X bought in November 2017, now there is a purple vertical line down the left side of the screen, nothing wrong with the functioning of the phone. Chat said to book an appointment they will inspect and I may have to pay $250 roughly for a new screen, what are the chances that I can get a new screen/phone replacement for free?

Depends on the genius.

most likely you’ll need to pay. It’s rare they give these repairs away now if you don’t have apple care plus.

Low. That looks like a damaged cable due to years of use (drops, hits etc) or water damage.

I had that similarly just happen to my iPhone 11 Pro Max but much worse for a few days then to that you have but it went away with updating it. Not sure if there’s a connection. Oh and mine was green lines and blur

Looks like it’s is a decent case, did it experience a huge drop or did it suddenly just display this line? Could be a hardware failure rather than damage if it’s just suddenly appeared.
