So I have an external drive right now that is formatted for mac, and I have a few files that are over the 4GB mark: they're anywhere from 4-6 GB. They play just fine to problems whatsoever.

Would these files work on a hard drive thats formatted for windows (NTFS) ?

Don't Confuse the Container with the Content

An analogy might help.

Does a bottle of Coke taste/work differently if you move it from a Traulsen to a Whirlpool? No.

Don't confuse the container with the content. For the most part, files are files.

There are, however, a few file naming conventions that don't work the same on OS X v. Windows. http://www.portfoliofaq.com/pfaq/FAQ00352.htm seems to cover the topic, but a little Googling might help you find even more useful information.

I should be more descriptive about my concern- i thought there might be a problem since the files were greater than 4 GB - and I didn't know if maybe the mac file system- and a mac computer could handle those files better than a windows system- that say isn't 64 bit.
