Carrier Question about trading in phone for Verizon

Since I called up customer service and they were clueless (as usual) I thought I'd ask here. Verizon is offering me $325 for my phone and I'd like to upgrade to the 5S. Am I supposed to restore the phone prior to going to the store? Or will they do it for me? I would basically like to give them my phone, get the credit, and then use that credit to get my phone. Any help is appreciated!

They will transfer your old phones data/numbers/favorites to your new phone. Than they can restore the old phone at that time in front of the rep.

I would but my phone isn't in the greatest condition (light scratches on screen, big dent in the side from dropping it) so I think Verizon's offer is pretty decent
