Pondering my future options. I may get a Mac tower (Conroe!) with two internal hard drives. Is the following RAID setup possible? Can it be done with Disk Utility?

* Partition BOTH drives into equal halves. (4 partitions total.)

* Take the first partition of EACH drive and STRIPE them together for speed. (Does striping boost file/app load times much? I won't be doing video a lot.)

* But leave the other two partitions alone for additional data or backups. ONLY stripe half of each drive, in other words.

The computer would then see three volumes: a big striped main boot drive, and two extra partitions too.

TIA!

(PS, if striping isn't worth the speed, how about using a second drive for virtual RAM and Photoshop scratch disc? More useful than striping?)
