Hello!

I have a 27" inch iMac mid-2011 and a Macbook Pro Mid-2012.

I bought 16 GB RAM to my imac mid-2011 a while ago.

I came over today, and wanted to ask if someone knows: Can I move the iMac Mid-2011-ram to my Macbook Mid-2012 ?

And set my 4 GB RAM from my Macbook Mid-2012 in my imac mid-2011 ?

Should be possible, the Macbook uses the faster 1600mhz ram compared to the 1333mhz ddr3 so-dimms of the iMac. The Macbook should just run the ram at the slower speed but it makes little sense to me. The cheapness of that type of ram allows you to get it for $30-40 on ebay and would max out the capacity at the proper speed. Then you have two machines with the full amount of ram at the proper speeds.

Thank you so much @Audit13 and @MacUser2525

I will just consider buying new ram. Thanks for open and incredible input and great help. I do not know these details, and it is hard to read oneself until the practice. I consider the question answered.

To sum up:
The ram in at least the 13 inch is not upgradable.
If you can, get the 8 GB 15 inch version, if you buy a 2012 Macbook Pro.

Signing off this thread.

If it is a mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13, it is a non-retina and the ram is upgradeable to 16gb, if it is a late 2012 MacBook Pro 13 it is a retina and the ram is not upgradeable.
