Raw photos from Mavic 2 Pro and iPad Pro M1/MacBook Pro M2

I recently tried doing some raw pics and am having trouble when I transferred them to my MacBook. They quality isn’t right, I am probably doing somethi wrong. What free photo app should I use to work with these files on either my iPad or MacBook? The file sizes on my drone are around 40 MB 20 mp but when I look in iphotos where I imported them on my iPad for example the size 960x640

It almost sounds you’re looking at jpegs and not raw files. Is that possible? In the Photos app on the iPad, if you tap the ‘i’ symbol in the upper right when you have an image selected (by the Edit toggle), it will tell you the file type (raw, HEIF, JPEG, etc). The Photos app on the Mac will show the same info.
